The Team

At Merafield View, our team is at the heart of everything we do. With years of experience, genuine compassion and a shared commitment to excellence, we work together to create a safe, welcoming and supportive home for every resident. We believe that strong relationships build trust, and we are proud of the stable, dedicated team that makes our community feel like family.

Head Manager

Sally

Our home is led by Sally, an exceptional Registered General Nurse who has dedicated more than 30 years to continuously strengthening and advancing the standard of nursing and medical care within the home. Her long-standing leadership brings stability, experience and a deep understanding of what truly matters to residents and their families. Under her guidance, care is never static. It evolves, improves and adapts to meet individual needs with professionalism and compassion.

Sally believes that every team member has something valuable to contribute. Each individual brings unique skills, personal strengths and shared experiences that enrich the whole. When these qualities come together, they create a strong, collaborative and supportive environment where residents feel safe and staff feel empowered.

This culture of inclusion and respect extends beyond the team. Residents and visitors are encouraged to share ideas, feedback and suggestions, helping to shape and continually improve life within the home. It is this shared commitment to listening, learning and growing together that defines the spirit of our community.

We value every team member and believe that everyone has something to offer. This ethos is nurtured throughout the home, by residents, visitors and staff contributing to ideas and recommendations for continually improving the care home.

Head Nurse

Emma Thompson, RGN

Emma is a Registered General Nurse with over 18 years of experience in adult nursing, including acute hospital wards, community care and specialist elderly care. She completed her nursing degree at the University of Plymouth and has undertaken additional training in dementia care, end-of-life support and complex clinical needs. Her broad clinical background allows her to lead with confidence while maintaining a calm and reassuring presence for residents and families.

Throughout her career, Emma has focused on raising standards in medication management, personalised care planning and team mentoring. She believes strong nursing in a care home setting requires both technical competence and emotional intelligence. Under her leadership, clinical care is structured, responsive and always centred around the individual.

Emma sees nursing homes as environments where dignity, consistency and compassion matter most. For her, quality care is not only about managing health conditions but about protecting independence, listening carefully and ensuring every resident feels safe.

Activities Manager

Daniel Carter

Daniel brings over 12 years of experience in therapeutic recreation and wellbeing coordination within care environments. He trained in Health and Social Care before specialising in meaningful engagement for older adults, including accredited training in reminiscence therapy and dementia-friendly programming. His approach combines structure with creativity, ensuring activities are both purposeful and enjoyable. He designs programmes that reflect residents’ interests, life stories and abilities. From music sessions and art workshops to community visits and seasonal celebrations, Daniel ensures there is rhythm and variety to each week. He works closely with families to understand personal histories so that activities feel relevant rather than generic. Daniel believes activities in a nursing home should never feel like time-filling exercises. They should encourage connection, confidence and joy. For him, engagement supports emotional wellbeing just as strongly as nursing supports physical health, and both are equally important in creating a fulfilling life within the home.

Head Chef

Maria Delgado

Maria has over 20 years of culinary experience, including roles in hospitality kitchens and specialist catering for healthcare environments. She completed formal culinary training before undertaking additional certification in nutrition for older adults and texture-modified diets. Her expertise ensures that meals are both enjoyable and aligned with dietary and clinical needs.

She leads the kitchen with a focus on freshness, presentation and choice. Menus are seasonal, varied and shaped by resident feedback. Maria works closely with the nursing team to support individuals with specific dietary requirements, ensuring meals remain appealing while meeting nutritional guidelines.

Maria believes food in a nursing home carries emotional value beyond nourishment. Mealtimes create routine, comfort and community. She is committed to preserving dignity at the table, offering choice wherever possible and ensuring every resident can look forward to meals that feel familiar, satisfying and thoughtfully prepared.
